Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis is when there is a high amount of iron in organs and tissues. Hemochromstosis absorbs   extra iron from food and cannot effectively eliminate the excess. But if too much irins builds up, it affects the liver, heart, pancreas, pituitary gland, joints and other tissues of the body. That can do some serious damage.


Symptoms:
  • Phlebotomy (bloodletting) - similar to donating blood
  • Avoid iron supplements
  • Avoid vitamin C - because vitamin C increases iron digestion.
  • Avoid alcohol - to avoid exacerbating liver damage
  • Avoiding high-iron foods - simply eat les
